Wedding Cantata

As well as featuring two much-loved pieces from the soprano repertoire, Bach’s Wedding Cantata BWV 202 and the lament from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, this programme explores the varying roles of the baroque trumpet, from the splendour of the French overture style, through Biber’s à 5 in C for Trumpet and Strings, to the virtuosic peaks of Brandenburg 2.
